Everyone should know how to best take care of their very valuable iPad. You should avoid exposing your iPad to direct sunlight and to high temperatures. One problem that could result is a faulty or poorly working battery. Also, make sure that you do not put it any place where it will come in contact with liquids. A cover is key to longevity, too.

You can do this in the Settings menu or, more simply, by double-clicking the Home button and swiping to the left to get to the brightness slider.
You do not have to do this if you are in a different place, this is why you can do it this way. The normal screen brightness can be lowered if you double click the Home button and then swipe the brightness setting. You can alter the brightness and save some battery life.
